How UV Light is Revolutionizing Septic Repairs

The new LightRay LR3 LED UV system is the most advanced UV cast in place pipe technology available!

UV light technology is nothing new. It's been used in the dental industry for years to harden the resin used for fillings, and it's been a staple in the cosmetic industry for various applications like hardening polish and acrylics. The engineers at Perma-Liner Industries have harnessed this amazing technology for use in pipe repairs, and it is now changing the way we repair septic and sewer lines. With UV light, broken pipes that used to take hours to fix can be repaired in minutes - no digging required. Keep reading to learn more, or contact us today to schedule service. With over 60 years in the septic industry, John Kline is a name you can trust for fair pricing and unmatched professionalism.

The Role of UV Light in Trenchless Repairs

When your pipe is cracked or broken, we can repair it with our Light Ray LR3 system. It does not matter if the old pipe(s) had cracks, holes, channeling, age deterioration, scaling, or root intrusion. In most cases, if a substantial portion of the original pipe is intact, trenchless pipe repair can be used effectively. Trenchless pipe repair structurally restores an existing pipe internally by using the failed or deteriorated pipe as a host, rather than by disruptive, costly trench digging. That's right - no digging required.

We'll use specialized equipment to insert a new pipe liner into your old pipe. The liner is flexible and moldable. It is a resin-saturated felt tube made of polyester, fiberglass cloth or a number of other materials suitable for resin impregnation and with camera technology we can place the liner exactly where it needs to be to replace the bad section of your pipe(s). We then inflate the liner so it fits securely where the old pipe was broken, and when the liner is a perfect fit we use UV light to cure the resin, making it as hard as a brand new section of PVC pipe. The LightRay LR3 system incorporates non-thermal UV casting resins along with high-strength flexible fiberglass pipe liners. No matter what the current temperature is above or below ground, the casting times are consistent anytime and every time, all in under 10 minutes.

Little to no digging is involved in this trenchless process, making for a potentially more cost-effective and less disruptive method than traditional “dig and replace” pipe repair methods. We are so excited to be among the first in our industry to bring the trenchless method to the Central PA area!
